Clean your trap. Most modern dishwashers have food/debris traps that must be maintained by cleaning the screen. A clogged screen or trap may keep the dishwasher from draining. Refer to your owner's manual or google your model number for more information.
Check for air-gap. Most dishwasher installations have air-gaps installed on the sink. When these get blocked by food or other debris, they may prevent dishwasher from draining correctly. Most air-gaps unscrew to remove blockages. See owner's manual or google your type of air-gap.
Check proper dish placement. Sometimes dish placement can affect the dishwasher cleaning. Dishes placed too close to each other prevents water spray to correctly reach the soiled dish. Simply observe the placement of the dishes to allow for water streams to reach dish surfaces.
Plug into other outlets. If your dishwasher is dead and none of the lights are on. Simply plug it into another outlet. It may be a bad plug or a bad/tripped circuit breaker.
