Clean lint screen. All dryers have lint screens that must be maintained by cleaning the dust  and lint off of them. Some dryers have these lint screens on the top of the unit and are simply pulled out to clean. Others have them inside the drum, and pulled out to clean. Refer to your owner's manual or google your model number for more information.

Check for a blocked or smashed dryer hose. Most dryers are vented to the outside. A fire resistant hose is used to connect your dryer to the dwelling exhaust tube to the outside. Some times lint can build up in the hose, others get smashed against the wall or both. Inspecting and cleaning this hose takes a few minutes and can save you a service call.

Check proper airflow in duct to outside building. Sometimes after a few years of use the duct work for your dryer inside the wall leading to the outside may become blocked with lint, animals or other debris. This can severely affect your drying times and may even damage components in your machine. Have your airflow checked professionally or simply run a leaf blower on the duct to check for blockages. A screen may need to be removed first if duct vents out of the roof.

Plug into other outlets. If your dryer is dead and none of the lights are on. Simply plug it into another outlet. It may be a bad plug or a bad/tripped circuit breaker.
