Clean your drain pump trap. Some washers have drain pump traps that must be maintained by removing from machine and cleaning debris. Most washers have these access panels on the bottom of the unit and may be accessed from the front. Some need the front cover removed. Refer to your owner's manual or google your model number for more information.
Check for blocked drain hose. Most washers never experience a drain hose blockage. Washing stuffed animals and bathroom rugs increase the chance of blocking your drain hose. Material that sometimes comes loose from these articles will block the drain hose. Remove drain hose and check end to end for blockages.
Check proper clothes distribution. Sometimes clothes distribution can affect the spin cycle on today's washers. If clothes become bunched up in the tub to either side, it may cause an off balance load. On older machines this would mean loud noises and banging. On today's electronic models the spin is monitored and prevented from getting too out of hand but causing wet clothes. Simply re-distribute the clothes and run the spin cycle again.
Plug into other outlets. If your washer is dead and none of the lights are on. Simply plug it into another outlet. It may be a bad plug or a bad/tripped circuit breaker.
