Clean your spark electrode. Most modern stoves or cooktops have spark electrodes that must be maintained by cleaning the cooking grease off of them. Most stoves or cooktops have these spark electrodes on the burner. You may need to remove burner to access this. Some are easily accessible and take only minutes to clean. Refer to your owner's manual or google your model number for more information.
Check for weak igniters. Most gas ovens use glow igniters. When these igniters get weak they don't glow bright orange anymore but rather a dull sunset type glow. when this happens ovens take longer to heat up and may sometimes stop reigniting mid-cooking. Take note of the model number and relay this information to your service company. This will save you time and money
Cooktop keeps clicking. Sometimes the spark ignition system of a cooktop may be triggered unexpectedly. This may be caused by a bad burner spark switch or a shorted burner switch in the stove. Sometimes this happens after cleaning. Water from the cleaning may have gotten into the spark switch assembly. This causes it to short and turn on the spark module. Simply unplug unit and allow time to dry out switch, reconnect and test.
Plug into other outlets. If your stove or oven is dead and none of the lights are on. Simply plug it into another outlet. It may be a bad plug or a bad/tripped circuit breaker.
